It is in these last days of autumn when our light becomes scarce that those of us in the winterland take every chance we can of escaping our cozy caves.  This is the time of year for bare, skeletal trees silhouetted by pale afternoon sunsets.  For those in the country it’s a time for finding the hidden places that are covered by summer’s lush growth and for crawling over the long, dead grasses and frozen rocks.  City dwellers scuttle down chilly sidewalks and into the deep armchairs of warm libraries or through the doors of steamy coffeehouses.  We sit at tables and watch through foggy windows as people go by to their own places.

The season changes and we alter with the weather.
